Hello, There
I'm Justin Bark
Cybersecurity
With over 18 years in IT, cybersecurity, and network engineering, I specialize in detecting and defending against cyber threats in government environments. I hold a Top Secret clearance, GCIH and GSEC certifications, and lead proactive security operations using ExtraHop, Splunk, and Cisco infrastructure.
As a cybersecurity analyst, my main focus is on fortifying digital systems and networks against cyber threats. I constantly monitor security events, analyze data to pinpoint potential vulnerabilities or breaches, and put in place measures to thwart attacks. This involves conducting routine security audits, configuring security tools, and staying abreast of the latest cyber threats and mitigation strategies. Additionally, I play a key role in incident response, investigating security breaches and offering recommendations for bolstering our overall cybersecurity defenses. My ultimate goal is to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of critical information and systems within our organization.
My experience in IT enterprise architecture spans various domains, where I've been instrumental in designing and implementing complex IT infrastructures tailored to organizational needs. I've led efforts to align technology solutions with business objectives, ensuring seamless integration and scalability. From defining system requirements to overseeing implementation phases, I've collaborated with stakeholders across departments to deliver innovative solutions that drive efficiency and agility. Drawing on my expertise in emerging technologies and industry best practices, I've crafted architectural frameworks that optimize performance, security, and cost-effectiveness. My role encompasses envisioning future IT landscapes, conducting risk assessments, and guiding strategic decision-making to support long-term business goals. With a holistic approach and a focus on driving value, I've helped organizations navigate digital transformation journeys and stay ahead in today's dynamic IT landscape.
In system configuration change management, I leverage a strong technical foundation and strategic insight to orchestrate seamless transitions across diverse platforms, prioritizing stability, security, and scalability. My expertise lies in crafting meticulous change management strategies that mitigate risks and streamline processes through automation. I excel in monitoring and documenting changes to ensure compliance with regulations and industry standards while fostering collaboration and continuous improvement within cross-functional teams.
As a cybersecurity expert, I document processes, incidents, and procedures with accuracy and clarity.
Led classified NetOps projects at Patuxent River NAS. Redesigned network architecture, authored Cisco STIG templates, and migrated to DHCP reservations. Trained staff on DISA STIG compliance and secure networking.
Deployed ExtraHop Reveal(x), hardened switches with STIGs, implemented ADFS Zero Trust, and led SSL/SAML certificate remediation. Installed Nutanix and configured Splunk dashboards for threat visibility.
Conducted threat monitoring and response using Splunk, Cisco DNA, and ISE. Managed COMSEC equipment, forensic tools, and deployed AWS-hosted WEBEOC. Handled malware response under CISA directives.
Redesigned Active Directory, DNS, and VMware environments for 1,000+ systems. Ensured HIPAA compliance and managed backup infrastructure across healthcare clients.
Maintained VoIP, POS, and e-sports infrastructure across properties. Supported casino systems and designed network architecture for Luxor’s e-sports arena.
Focused on secure infrastructure design, network administration, and cybersecurity principles.
Studied circuit theory, embedded systems, and electrical systems design.
Completed foundational coursework in computing, mathematics, and engineering sciences.

It is my pleasure to recognize Justin Bark for exemplary leadership and technical excellence during two critical enterprise incidents: the SolarWinds SUNBURST compromise and the recent CrowdStrike update disruption. Justin’s calm, evidence-driven response, paired with outstanding cross-team coordination, protected mission operations and accelerated our recovery timelines—performance that earned him my Director’s Award. During the SUNBURST response, Justin rapidly operationalized threat intelligence and IOCs, led targeted sweeps across Orion-adjacent systems, and used network telemetry and SIEM correlation to separate true positives from background noise. He coordinated containment (credential resets, EDR quarantine, egress controls), executed a clean-build/upgrade path for affected components, and closed configuration gaps with hardened baselines, certificate hygiene, and continuous monitoring playbooks. His post-incident report translated complex technical risk into clear business impact and remediation priorities. When the CrowdStrike issue triggered widespread endpoint instability, Justin stood up a structured triage and rollback plan within hours. He prioritized mission-critical assets, built safe-mode and out-of-band recovery workflows, and deployed scripted fixes through our management stack to restore services in waves without re-introducing risk. Just as importantly, he established concise, cadence-based communications for executives, mission owners, and helpdesk—reducing confusion and accelerating decision-making. Beyond technical depth, Justin models the habits of a world-class engineer: he documents, he teaches, and he turns hard-won lessons into durable runbooks and detection content. Our environment is measurably stronger because of his work. I recommend him without reservation for any role demanding high judgment, incident leadership, and enterprise-scale security engineering. — Dr. Antonio “Tony” Montgomery
